Godavari is a 2021 Indian Marathi-language drama movie directed by means of Nikhil Mahajan and produced through Jitendra Joshi, Mitali Joshi, Pavan Malu and Nikhil Mahajan beneath the banner of Blue Drop Films. Starring Neena Kulkarni, Jitendra Joshi and Vikram Gokhale, the movie tells a tale of a family residing on the banks of river Godavari in Nashik. Godavari changed into slated to launch on May 1, 2021 on Maharashtra Day, but was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. It was invited at 2021 Vancouver International Film Festival in ‘Contemporary World Cinema’ section of competition application. It had its world ideal on four October 2021, and its theatrical launch in India is scheduled on three December 2021.
The movie is also invited on the New Zealand International Film Festival for its Wellington version to be screened on 10 November 2021, and at 52nd International Film Festival of India in functions movie category of ‘Indian Panorama’ section for screening in November.[8] It is also decided on for Golden Peacock Awards category. Later in March 2022, it changed into screened at Pune International Film Festival, in which it received Best Director award, Best Cinematography award and Best Music Special Jury Prize. The film became additionally decided on as opening movie at twenty second version of New York Indian Film Festival screened on 7 May, 2022. The film may also be screened at Cannes Film Festival in Marché du Film held alongside 2022 edition of the pageant on 19 May at Palais des Festivals.
Charlie Smith of The Georgia Straight reviewing the movie at VIFF praised the track saying “Indian songs, enlarge the distress of Nishikant’s existence”, and cinematography, writing, “Imaginative camera work also does its magic.” Smith additionally appreciated the performances of forged and said, “The acting in Godavari is wonderful”. He praised the appearing of Jitendra Joshi for his portrayal of “fiery-eyed the bothered Nishikant”, Priyadarshan Jadhav for his “pensive and plaintive performance”, and Neena Kulkarni for her “subtle and true performing”.
