Ben Wheatley is the director of the 2023 science fiction action movie Meg 2: The Trench, which is also known as Shark 2 in some regions[2]. Jon, Erich, and Dean Hoeber wrote the screenplay. It is based on Steve Alten’s 1999 book The Trench. Jason Statham, Wu Jing, Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Skyler Samuels, and Cliff Curtis are among the actors who appear in the sequel to The Meg (2018). Similar to the first movie, it centers on a team of scientists who must outrun and outswim the titular Megalodons when a nefarious mining operation imperils their goal and puts them in a life-or-death struggle.
After the first movie’s box office success, the sequel’s early development was confirmed in October 2018. With the script being written by returning authors Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber, director Ben Wheatley took over for Jon Turteltaub. Many of the cast joined in the same month, and filming continued until May 2022 in a number of Asian locations including at London’s Leavesden Studios.
